Out The Mouth Of children and Babies – My First Diary, by Eti Atik
Do you have a new baby?
How will you remember when were the the first smile, laughter, steps (and fall), hand cllapping, words were?
“Out The Mouth Of children and Babies” accompanies you in the experiences of raising your child.
This is a baby’s diary in a Jewish spirit.
As a mother who likes to write down memories and sayings of the children, I didn’t find a diary that suits my needs and the atmosphere in our home, in the content, the illustrations and in the general look. In other dairies, I found obscenity and rudeness; I didn’t find the Jewish spirit, and attention to the important moments in the baby’s first steps inworld of the Torah and Mizvot.
That is why I decided to create something new and unique. With G-D’s help and the encouragement of my family, I published מפי עוללים ויונקים, a diary that was written for you and your child.
מפי עוללים ויונקים is a diary that accompanies the baby from birth for three years. The diary is unique in including Midrashic paragraphs, biblical verses and Sages’ sayings that refer to the different periods in the child’s development.
Unlike other dairies, it doesn’t include medical reports, vaccination table, weight chart etc. for it is supposed to document special experiences in the child’s growth and doesn’t intend to do the nurse’s job.
When I chose the frames and illustrations, I had in mind that the “star” of the diary is your baby. Hence, the frames are for his photographs, and the illustrations give a nice background, but function only as a setting.
The diary includes special places for the parents’ guided or free writings about significant events in the child’s growth.
Alongside the happy and funny moments this diary documents also those that are sad, embarassing and sleepless.
The boys’ diary focuses on important moments in Torah and Mizvos lifestyle: Brith Mila, Pidyon, Graces, Zizit, Halake , and entering kindergarten or Talmud Torah.
The girls’ diary focuses on Sabbath and holidays, and the preparation for these days, the mother’s image, celebration of the new baby girl, entering kindergarten, and the girls’ special growth and development.
The diary was written from the child’s point of view, who due to technical reasons cannot express his opinion and impression, and needs his parents do it for him. The whole diary is written in his name and hence comes the name of the diary: מפי עוללים ויונקים (Psalms 8,3)
This book is a must for every parent who wants his children to thank him when they will be able to read by themselves about their first years, and this will be a nice souvenir for many years for the whole family.
The diary extenses the first 3 years, but focuses mainly on the first two years, so that you will be available for the next child’s diary and there won’t be any geleousy concerning your documenting.
The diary comes in a fancy album format and hard cover.
Special thanks for my dear children: Dvir, Yisrael, Matanel, Hodaya and Tehila, who using the experiences of raising them enriched my life and gave me the ability to produce this creation.
The diary is for sale in several stores all over the country, especially in gifts and baby goods stores.
The best way to purchase the diary is directly from me. I can be reached at 02-9933468, 054-5575828 and will mail the order to you which will save you time, work and parking.

An Introduction By The Editor
Why is that diary?
The lack of such a diary was felt a long time.
As a mother who is raising sons and daughters, and likes to write down memories, I didn’t find a diary that will answer my desires and will suit the atmosphere in our home, in its content, format and illustrations.
Therefore, I decided to try and create something that will fit my thoughts, and with G-D’s help and the encouragement of my family, I edited this diary which I am happy to hand you. “מפי עוללים ויונקים” is the diary that was written for you and about your child.
Shabbat Be’Shabbato Issue, published by Zzomet Institute in Allon Shvut - New on the shelf section – editor: Rav Yehuda Shaviv.
מפי עוללים ויונקים, My First Diary, Eti Atik (Ophir), Album Format.
The experiments and intensive care of babies during the first years, fill most of spare time, even that at heart, and therte is barely a chance to document in writing the developmental stages.
That is why the different baby’s diaries that accompany parents and baby were created.
The new thing in the diaries (blue – for a boy; pink – for a girl) by Eti Atik (Ophir) from Allon shvut, is suiting them to the religious population.
New on the children’s shelf: מפי עוללים ויונקים.
Of course one can always bring flowers or a candy box, but if you want to be more original, take with you to the first visit of a new mother that deserves some present, the creation of Eti Atik (Ophir) titled “מפי עוללים ויונקים – My First Diary”. This is a photo album in a boys’ and girls’ version in blue and pink correspondingly, which accompanies the baby from his first day to his third birthday. Costumarily – there is place for photos of all relatives, grandfathers and grandmothers, brothers etc, weight and length recording, reports from the Brit, and a vast space for continuous records of the mother and father about the first smile, first tooth, first step, first day in day care and kindergarten and so on…
But there is also something new. Unlike similar diaries in the stores, the author fitted her’s to the religious family. In her diary, the baby is being perpetuated not only in his everyday rutine, but also in events such as Brit Mila, Pidyon Ha’Ben (if it is a first son), “Halake” ceremony, or when he wears his first Zizit.
The diary has place for the verbal innovations of the todlers (and there is no baby who doesn’t surprise or amuse his parents with his verbal creations), and place for a list of thr infant’s favorite songs and stories, and near the place to write who does the baby resembles, the author brings from the sayings of Rav Tuvya Ha’Rofe: “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, and of Ibn Ezra, that most of the children resemble father and mother, because they are the roots.
The diaries are accompanied with delicate illustrations in blue or pink versions, and are noted in impressive estetics.
Sometimes there are such simple things that when they are apear for sale on stores everyone asks himself why, actually, no one thought about it before? And seldom, it is an item that exists already, but for some reasons doesn’t fit, or fit less, to the observant public, and by small changes it becomes a hit.
That is how “מפי עוללים ויונקים – יומני הראשון” is. The first diary for the baby. Although it could probably fit the observant public by small changes, a deep intensive work was put in it, and most of all, original.
Eti Atik (Ophir), a mother of five, put on writing, during the childhood years of her children, the experiences of raising them. In the wide secular world, there are such diaries, which enable the parents document the first word and first smile, the first step and first photograph and other details which we don’t always remember after couple of years, but they rise pleasant and warm memories from these days.
As a graduate of teaching studies, the author sucseeded to create a unique diary, that is naturally divided to boys’ (blue) and girls’ (pink, of course), in which one can write down happy moments and funny ones, alongside those that are embarassing and sleepless, from the moment of birth until the age of three.
Some of the diary’s subjects are common for both boys and girls, but of course there are also unique subjects. For a boy, for example, there is shalom zahar, brith mila, ‘halake’, zizis etc. On the other hand, for a girl there is an axpansion of sabbath and holidays etc.
The diary is interwoven with biblical phrases, midrashic phrases and sages’ sayings, so it is a nice original gift for birth, also for a birth of a grandson or a granddaughter, and evevn a son or daughter. Congratulations!
On a good hour and in good luck you have a new baby, and like every parent you will probably want to document the special moments of his first years: the first time he smiled, laughed, clapped his hands, teared, said first word and first blessing. This memories diary is going to be a wonderfull souvenir for many days and years for the whole family.
It is unique in being written especially for the religious sector. It fits the religious family from the atmosphere and content side, and also from the shape and illustrations. Interwoven in it sections of midrash and agada, biblical phrases and sages’ sayings that are relevant to the different periods in the child’s life, from choosing the name to the entrance of kindergarten.
The diary comes in two versions, the first is for boys (in blue) and the second is for girls (in pink).

Indeed, sometimes when we are so busy taking care of the little baby, mostly phisical care, it is hard to find time and peace of mind for writing and documenting the special experiences. Therefore, the writing is not too long and focuses on the relevant topics which let the parents documenting in short, and remember for days and years.
